Consideration is given to the case of Mr. D. J. Barradas, Accountant in the Hongkong Post Office, who through ill health has been pronounced unfit for active duty by the Acting Colonial Surgeon (Dr. Dods), and the Superintendent of the Government Civil Hospital (Dr. Young), as attested by their joint Certificate of the 11th/14th June 1872, and who, under the circumstances, is recommended for Pension by the Postmaster General, on the ground of good service, fidelity, and diligence.
No. 1807, 14 June 1872. Mr. Barradas had served the Government for a period of 18 years and 10 months, having entered the service on 1st August, 1853, it is Resolved, that he be granted a Pension for 18 years of services, computed upon a salary of $100, to take effect from 1st July, 1872, which would entitle him to a Retiring Allowance of $1920 per annum, say, £183-6-8.
It is further Resolved, under the peculiar circumstances of Mr. Barradas' case, who through a paralytic stroke...
